National 2 Blades Head of the River – St. Michaels HOR

Killorglin Rowing Club had a very enjoyable weekend at O’Brien’s Bridge in Limerick on Saturday last. Athletes took part in St Michael’s National 2 Blades Head of the River that included single scull and pair events. We also participated in Women’s Junior 15 Quad event. The races were run over a distance of 3500m. Maeve McGillycuddy represented the Club in Women’s Junior 16 Single Scull event finishing well up the rankings. Aileen Crowley raced in the Women’s Junior 18 Single Scull event also competing very well. The big win of the day was Monika Dukarska coming 1st in the Women’s Senior Single Scull event winning the National 2 Blades Title. Our Junior 14 Quad that consisted of Molly O’Sullivan, Zoe Hyde, Emma Murphy, Kerri Fay and Katie Fay that competed in Women Junior 15 competition and rowing together for the first time secured 4th place with time of 13:52. The Senior Pair of Maeve McGillycuddy and Monika Dukarska finished 2nd to Skibbereen pair. Well done to all the athletes!.

Our next outing is National Trials in Newry on 12th &13th February and our next competition is Cork Head of the River on 19th of February.
