Castleconnell Sprints 10th June 2012

Castleconnell Sprints is an exciting regatta held over 500m, with five crews racing at the time. Races are packed very close  together on the day with some being only 20min apart. This regatta is a part of Waterways Ireland competition, where Killorglin Rowing Club junior 15 quads of boys and girls are on top of the league. Killorglin athletes are racing all day long with the first race starting at 9:12am and last being at 6:34pm. We still hope to be home for the Ireland – Croatia match at 8pm =)

Kieran O’Sullivan is racing first in the Men’s Junior 14 single scull followed by Women’s Novice Quad of Molly Sullivan, Ali O’Sullivan, Kerri Fay and Dearbhail Ryan. Katie Fay is coxing all of the crews, so she will be out on the water most of the day. Crew of Connor Dee, Robert Shaw, Kieran O’Sullivan and John F O’Grady are racing Men’s Junior 16, 15 and Novice Quads, then dividing up into two doubles. Similarly girls, Molly Sullivan, Zoe Hyde, Kerri Fay, Ali O’Sullivan and Dearbhail Ryan race in Women’s Junior 16, 15 and Novice Quads. Dearbhail and Zoe race singles as well, with Kerri and Zoe racing double scull later on the day. Let’s hope we get home with bag of medals but for now – best of luck to all the crews participating. Competition is strong, getting off the stake boats fast is key!  Let’s make tomorrow a success and let’s hope weather will be favorable.

More news from Castleconnell Sprints to follow tomorrow.
