Monika Dukarska made Killorglin RC and Ireland proud at Home International Regatta over the weekend. Racing took place in Cardiff in Wales between four home countries – Ireland, England, Wales and Scotland. Irish team travelled to Cardiff on Friday with racing kicking off on Saturday morning.
Monika represented Ireland in the Women’s Senior Single scull event opening a 10 second lead over England sculler that chased her hard to the line. Strong start and initial stage of the race gave Monika an unrecoverable advantage over other rowers.
Later on the afternoon, Monika teamed up with three other athletes and raced the Women’s Senior Quadruple Scull. Sun was shining down with Irish quad storming down the course. England hang on for initial 700m of the race, however Irish crew pulled away slowly, establishing a boat length of an advantage. With 20 strokes push at the last 300meters girls crossed the line first, winning yet another medal for Ireland.
It was a very enjoyable and successful trip for both Monika Dukarska and coach Michael G Fleming. Season completed with two gold medals.
