Newry Assessment – 24/25th November

Rowing Ireland’s High Performance Programme is responsible for the selection, training and preparation of Ireland’s teams for Junior, Under 23 and Senior Competions.

The first step in this selection process is occuring this coming weekend in Newry. The purpose of this assessment is to demonstrate a level of performance sufficient to warrant an invitation for further assessment in February 2013. Athlete seeking selection in 2013 for Rowing Ireland’s High Performance teams must attend the November assessment.

We are proud to say we have 3 representatives, going forward for Assessment, and would like to wish them all the best this coming weekend. They are:

Zoe Hyde (Junior / u16)
Meave McGillycuddy (Junior / u18)
Monika Dukarska (Senior / Heavyweight)

They all have reached the qualifying standard and on Saturday under go a 2K Ergometer Test. If they are successful at that, they face a further 5K Time Trial on Newry Canal on Sunday.

Best of luck, girls!
