Irish Trials

Well done Zoe and Monika!

All rowers who have competed at the Newry assessments (or submitted medical certs) are invited to enter the March trials at the NRC. Invitations will be issued to Adaptive athletes who have demonstrated the potential to perform during training camp assessments.

This trial is compulsory for all rowers wishing to be considered for squads run by Rowing Ireland’s High Performance programme.

The trial will comprise of two races. The initial race will be a 1900m time trial on Saturday morning (30th March). Based on the results of this time trial, finals will be drawn (under FISA rules) and raced over 2000m on Saturday also. Adaptive athletes will race at least twice over a 1000m course. Sunday (31st March) will be used as a spare day / crew formation day.

From these results, a squad will be selected for crew boat testing. These rowers will be part of the Rowing Ireland Squad for the 2013 regatta season. These results will also determine if any Adaptive athletes/crews will compete at international regattas in 2013.

Final selections for the Junior Squad will be held on the 29th & 30th June.

Queries relating to junior squad should be addressed to Pat McInerney (coached@iaru.ie)”
