Monika Dukarska is a part of the Irish Senior Rowing High Performance Team and will represent Ireland at the 2013 Senior World Rowing Championships in Changju, South Korea. Monika’s achievements this season are astonishing, after participating in the Senior World Cup II in Eton Dorney and finishing 6th overall, she went onto racing the women’s single scull event at the World University Games in Russia, where she placed 4th against top quality field of rowers. She now teams up with Leonora Kennedy to take on the world, at the most prestigious rowing event this season. Team Ireland that consists of three senior athletes will travel to Changju in South Korea on the 19th of August. The racing commences on the 25th of August and ends on the 1st of September. Monika races the Women’s Double Scull event that attracts a large number of participants each year.
Monika (age 22) is the first Kerry heavy weight women to make it to the top level in rowing .This season however is only a stepping stone for this young athlete, as Monika aspires to compete at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janerio. After receiving her Irish passport in October 2012, there is nothing to stop her now on her journey.
