Athletes of Killorglin RC will participate in the Skibbereen Head of the River on the 19th of October at the National Rowing Centre in Inniscarra, Co. Cork. Rowers have already began their winter training with intention of racing upper grade categories next year and competing at under 18 championship level. Skibbereen Head of the River consists of 3,800m time trial for over 15’s, with junior athletes racing 2,000m against the clock. Maeve McGillycuddy will race the Junior18 single scull event, while John Francis O’Grady and Kieran O’Sullivan will test themselves in the junior16 men’s double scull event. Emma Murphy will race the women’s novice single, hopefully making her mark on the day. Our younger athletes will race the men’s junior 15 quad event where Kieran Morris teams up with Sean Houlihan, Shane O’Connor and Connor Murphy coxed by our dedicated cox Katie Fay. At the weekend our senior athlete Monika Dukarska will train with the National team in Cork in preparation for international duties during the summer.
Best of luck to all athletes, enjoy yourselves and hopefully the weather will stay dry.
