Skibbereen Regatta 2016

Best of luck to all of our athletes competing in the Skibbereen Regatta tomorrow. This is the first Grand League regatta of the season. The event is held at the National Rowing Centre in Farran Wood, Ovens, Co. Cork.

We have a very busy day ahead of us with Monika Dukarska kicking off the day with the Women’s Senior Single Sculls event at 7:30am.

Shortly after, we have the Women’s Junior 16 Quad of Mara Treacy, Molly O’Grady, Hannah Joy, Alanna Dolan and Anna Tyther racing against Muckross, Lee, Shandon, Workmans, Skibbereen, Cork and St. Michael’s rowing clubs.

Sean Houlihan and Michael O’Connor will race the Men’s Junior 16 double scull. The boys are racing at 10:40am against St. Michael’s of Limerick, Workman’s, St. Josephs, Waterford and Presentation College Cork clubs. Their final is scheduled at 1:22pm.

Anna Tyther and Rhiannon O’Donoghue will test the waters in the Women’s Junior 16 Double Scull in the afternoon, while Cathal O’Donovan is back into his single scull racing the Men’s Club 2 Single scull event. There is 11 competitors in Cathal’s event.

Last but not least is our Women’s Junior 15 quad of Mara Treacy, Molly O’Grady, Anna Tyther, Rhiannon O’Donoghue and Alanna Dolan racing a straight final at 4:47pm with 6 boats comping for the WJ15 quad title.
