Huge congratulations to our super crew of Mara Treacy, Molly O’Grady, Rhiannon O’Donoghue, Anna Tyther and Alanna Dolan on winning the Women’s Junior 15 quad in style at the Skibbereen Regatta yesterday! The girls won their race with a significant lead over Lee, Shandon and Skibbereen rowing clubs. Very well rowed girls!
The other win went to Monika Dukarska who won her heat of the Women’s Senior Single Sculls very comfortably, followed by a powerful lead in the final clocking up 7:55 and winning the Women’s Division 1 single sculls event.
The Men’s Junior 16 double scull of Sean Houlihan and Michael O’Connor finished second in their final to the Waterford BC crew, missing out on a win by only by 1.6 seconds. The sport is a game of inches!
Cathal O’Donovan raced a competitive race in the Men’s Club 2 single sculls finishing 4th overall.
Anna Tyther and Rhiannon O’Donoghue also raced the Women’s Junior 16 double scull finishing 4th overall. Equally determined and brave was the Women’s Junior 16 quad of Mara Treacy, Molly O’Grady, Hannah Joy and Alanna Dolan punching way above their age group, racing strong to the line and finishing 8th overall in this event.
Well done to all of our athletes. Well raced!
Our next event is the Limerick Regatta and the National Schools Rowing Championships on the 23rd and the 24th of April.
