Congratulations to Monika Dukarska on winning the 2016 Irish Open Coastal Single Scull event in Courtmacsherry today. Monika raced over 4km on an open sea, winning her race convincingly with close to 3 minutes lead over Arklow sculler in second.
Monika now qualified to compete for Killorglin RC and Ireland at the 2016 World Coastal Rowing Championships in Monaco in France on the 21-23 of October. She has also set a new Irish record to win two National titles in one year, that is the Senior Single Scull race at the National Rowing Championships (back in July) and the Irish Open Coastal Single Scull event today.
She will hope to repeat her performance from 2009 when she became the World Coastal Rowing Champion in the Scull!
The race in Monaco is 6km long. More details available here: http://www.wrcch2016.com/
