National Rowing Championships 2017

Congratulations to all our rowers who performed so well. It was a hard fought championship, and the weather was also difficult and played its part.  We had one win and a 2nd placing in total.

Results:

Our most senior competitor and our youngest competitor, both doing us proud.

  • Jessica Lee won in the Women’s Masters Single final. A wonderful win for the club, well done Jessica we are very proud of you.
  • Then our most junior competitor Airida Mateviciute came 2nd in her final. Well done Airida a wonderful success for your 1st year in rowing. Great things to come.
  • Alanna Dolan in the WJ 15 singles narrowly missed out on 3rd place, well done Alanna.
  • James McCarthy finished 3rd in his semi-final heat just barely missing out on a place in the final, with only two going forward to the final.
  • Rhiannon ODonoghue, Molly OGrady, Orla McCarthy, Anna Tyther and Mara Treacy competed in the Women’s Junior 16 quad race, only two crews from each race of 6 qualify for the final in the afternoon. It was a tough field with 18 entries in total and little separating the crews.
